The Artist
Just writing this feels strange to me for many reasons. I never envisioned that I would be in a position like this - a position of sharing so much vulnerability & simply letting it go out into the world for all eyes to see. All I hope for is that these pieces of creativity bring you at least a fraction of the joy that they have brought to me while making them.
My methods are self-taught, & I continue to learn with every single piece. Maybe someday I will feel like I actually "know what I'm doing". What I do know is that the work that I am offering to you is work that I am proud of.
My brain tends to be happiest when working in three-color combinations, although you will obviously see some pieces where a fourth (or even fifth) color will make its way into the group. I also rarely have an exact picture in my head at the beginning of any piece of what I want it to end up like. The times when I get frustrated are when I am trying to make things look a specific way & can't; meanwhile, the times when I give myself zero expectations & just do what the paint wants to do are when I come upon the most pleasant surprises. My favorite pieces have all begun with just putting something in my hand & having no idea where it will go.
I want it to be abundantly clear that I appreciate every single person who even comes to read this, who just looks at my creations, or who takes time to offer feedback. It is hard for me to let any of my pieces leave & know that I will likely never see them again, but if you enjoy what you see enough to claim it as your own, I truly am honored to share it with you.
The Artwork
My paintings are meant to have no beginning nor end, no up nor down. I love creations that keep your eye wandering into every corner, every layer (not just fixated in the center) - each day noticing something different or discovering a new favorite detail. I invite you to look at the pieces you bring into your space from every angle (not just the one I have pictured), & decided which orientation is most pleasing to you; maybe even change it up from time to time. This is why I don't sign my work on the front & don't attach the hanging fixtures (you can add those to your order); my favorite angle does not have to be yours. Just like the colors on the canvas, the pieces themselves have no rules to follow. Give yourself permission to turn something upside-down, & see how it feels!
The Earrings
With almost every painting, there is some unused paint leftover at the end. Many times, I will try to use what's left to start or finish another piece; however, sometimes I simply don't have an idea for it. I don't like to be wasteful, so that's where the earrings came in - what a perfect way to utilize the paint that doesn't make it to the canvases! These "miniature canvases" are all created with that leftover paint which would otherwise just dry & be discarded; no new paint is used. They are also a great way to express your artsy side on a daily basis to the rest of the world (unless you prefer to carry a canvas around with you all day).
